Morocco Via Ferry to Tangier Med
I just arrived at Tangier Med Port, Morocco via Genoa, Italy and thought I'd post my experience for anyone planning a trip to Morocco. The following information applies to the new Tangier Med ferry port, regardless of which port you sail from.
While still on the ferry, you must register your vehicle with the Moroccan police; listen for the announcement for this. A special area will be setup on the ferry for this.
You will be given a form to fill out which asks for the vin number, make and model of your motorcycle. Also the license plate number, along with other information. Fill the card out carefully and exactly.
When you meet with the Moroccan police official, he will review your information, place a stamp and a number in your passport. Make sure the number is legible... this is very important.
When you get off the ferry, there will be what seems to be a chaotic mess at customs. Coming up to customs, you will see a line of booths: not all are manned. Find one with a policeman inside, and give him your passport. He will then put the number that you got on the ferry in the Moroccan system. This is very important. If you skip the first booth, best case is you'll be sent back to get your motorcycle registered. Worst case is you will not be sent back, allowed to enter Morocco, but you will not get your motorcycle out of Morocco with you. So be sure to do this.
After that, you will be given three carbon copies - green, yellow and white - to fill out. This will be collected by a customs official, who should then check that you did the previous step.
After this, you are basically free to enter Morocco.
The customs officials will take one of the copies and give you back two. The green one is for your permanent record, should problems ever arise. The other is surrendered at the border when you exit Morocco. If you do not have these papers, your bike ain't goin with ya. So take care of these forms.
Hope this helps anyone visiting Morocco.
