Boot rental, current weather in High Atlas, freeze-dried meals

Hi everyone,

My dad and I are flying into Marrakech in a couple weeks to do 1 week of bicycle touring, then two weeks on Honda Tornados. I will then get back on my bicycle and do a solo ride 550 miles from Imilchil to Tangier, then anotehr 800 miles in Spain. Because I am flying with my bicycle, bicycle gear and motorcycle gear, I am looking to rent as much on site as possible.

1. I am wondering if anyone knows if there is anywhere in Marrakech to rent motorcycle boots (size 43/44, US size 10) from April 9-23rd? It'd be a huge help to fly without my own.

2. Our bicycle tour takes us up to Oukaimeden and Imlil. Our highest point will be 8800 ft/2700 m at Oukaimeden. Does anyone have recent info as to where the snowline is currently?

3. Is it possible to get freeze-dried/dehydrated camp meals in Marrakech?

Thank you very much!

Ask Loc2roues for the boots (and a bike).
I know they lend lids and that.

Don't know about snow but I think there's been more than normal this year.

Never been there but maybe Decathlon sells them.

Cook-in-a-bag is handy but a few veggies with cous-cous + DIY granola for brekkie will cost a fraction and can be bought anywhere.

Weather conditions at 2500m currently -1ºC with windchill making it -6ºC.

Forecast is for milder weather with 7ºC to 10ºC in the next few days. The windspeed will drop and lots of sun will make it seem warmer. Looking at longer term forecasts for Morocco the weather conditions are fairly settled and spring has definitely happened.

Freezing level will lift from 2300m to 4000m so snow should have disappeared other than in gullies on north facing slopes.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
