Importing LC camper to uk permeantly

Can anyone advise on process, and pitfalls of trying to import a 2003 LC euro 3 into uk from Germany, it has been professionally convertied into a camper van (table bed , cooing etc) in Germany and meets TUV , the National vechile inspection standard, however I am not sure beyond usual fog lights, speedo etc what I need to be worried about or need to do to get it in to the uk , and onto plates.

Once in , we will then start travels from the uk, Europe 1st then further afield.

Any advice, on how, or companies that can assist gratefully received.

I have never done a car or van but know bikes from another EU country are pretty straight forward, I think this is the relevant information you are looking for and there should be no need to employ anyone else to do it.

Thanks. I’ll take a look, although I am concerned that it is modified ( camper addition) which may make it more difficult to simply import as a std car.

Red face Import

Hi Farnley

I imported my van from Norway, just swapped the fog light for reversing light, took it to the inspection place in Bristol where they checked everything worked and that was it, I am not sure you even need the speedo in miles now, but check with test centre.

Good luck

Bruce

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
