Versys 1000 tyres

Hi,

Need some advice what tyres for my Versys 1000 so that i can manage to ride Central Asia and Pamir?

Need good 70:30 or 80:20 tyre with long life.

Any suggestions?

Also watching this for ideas

I will be outfitting my own Versys 1000LT with more dirt-oriented tires at some point and would love to see anyone else's recommendations if they have actually tried something.
Having as much power and speed as the Versys does, I am considering a sprocket change to allow better low speed manners while picking the way through mildly rocky trails, etc. I fear that nothing will actually make this bike civilized enough for off-road duty so a trade for a well-sorted and more appropriate machine might be in the future.

I really loved my TKC 70's on my VX-300. Lasted over 20k /km and still had life left when I changed them. Keep in mind that my bike is a lot lighter than the Versys 1000.

Handling is excellent on tarmac. Good on gravel. And ok for off road. They can not handle "real off road" like muddy trails or rocky mountain slopes, for that I would go with a 50/50 tyre. (Mitas-07 is what I'd recommend)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
