Bike rental in Budapest
After shopping around with 3 other rental companies in Budapest, I rented a R1200GS from Moto24. http://moto24.hu/
Their service was better than the other guys, had 2 english speakers, delivered and picked up the bike from my hotel, and had a zumo GPS with good ride routes already programmed in. I have rented bikes in Thailand, Turkey, and Spain, and this was the best service I had ever gotten.
The bike was in great shape with crash-guards/engine guards, top case, lock and chain. The 1200GS's had street focused tires on on them and were pretty sticky on the twisties. However, don't plan on riding mud roads (though gravel and dirt are managable).
If you rent with them, I'd recommend coordinating in advance to make a deposit with a credit card or paypal. They can do airport drop off/pickup too, which would save you some time dealing with hungarian cabbies or public transit. Bike Rental Insurance in Hungary is nonexistant, so you have to leave an 800 euro deposit for the 1200 GS or about 400 euro for the BMW 650s. It sucks, but they gave it back to me 4 days later without any drama.
