I need a new helmet, I’ve had my LS2 FF370 for over 5 years.

Should I go to a shop or buy online?

Where is the best place to buy online?

Go to a shop. Take a book/ magazine/ tablet with you. Find a place to sit down, put the helmet on and read for 20- 30 minutes.

It takes a while for fit problems to show up, but after a half hour you should be pretty sure that the helmet is right (or wrong) for you. It sucks to spend a lot of money for a helmet that you can't stand to keep on your head all day.

I have little exposure to the various helmets available, but I understand, not all hermits fit equaliy. I have had my Shoei for several years now, no complaints.
So thinking of a new replacement. Has anyone experienced or opinion on the new Vozz helmet.

I agree, if you're not sure then a shop is best. If in USA, Cycle Gear stores are nationwide, hundreds of stores well stocked with most all the brands.

Good idea about the 30 min. sit. I recently bought a Scorpion 950 flip up helmet, sight unseen, ON LINE. Big mistake!
It's beautiful, high quality ... but after an hour I'm in pain ... it squashes in on my jaw/cheeks. I've tried everything to fix! Not possible ... so now I'm selling this barely used helmet for less than HALF original price!

I have a FAT head, if you're head is a bit long and narrow, then the Scorpion could work perfect!

For Salty:
If you have owned Shoei before, then it's a good chance a newer Shoei will fit you fine. So, if you can't try one on ... I'd order it online. I'm pretty sure it's going to fit. Make certain about the return policy before you buy ... just in case you aren't happy. DON'T ride with the helmet or go outside until you're sure about keeping it.

One mistake guys make is to buy a TOO BIG helmet because it feels good in the store. Lots of guys order an XXL or something because it fits nice and comfy when they first put it on. But a good helmet should, at first, fit a bit snug, especially when it's brand new.

It will soon loosen up and adapt to your head shape. A too loose one will be noisy, get blown around on your head by wind.

I have owned mostly only Shoei and Arai helmets and both are super luxurious and fit me great.
I did order an HJC flip up on line ( Symax ll) and it fit my usual medium head well.

It's no Shoei but a damn good helmet for the price and perfect in super hot weather ... and very good price. Highly recommended!

You NEED to try it on; the 'sit-and-wait' idea's a winner. I've bought a few helmets that looked great / I wanted to work, only to discover that 25 minutes in it's causing me issues. The only one I can buy nowadays online is Arai, but I've owned quite a few and the fit's amazing (for me) out of the box. I just wished they'd stop changing the internal shapes on some models - my availability range is ever diminishing!

If you really want to buy online (you don't say where you are), then choose a retailer who'll restock for free. I like Touratech stuff, but this has put me off buying somethings from them. In the UK, Sportsbikeshop are good; fast service, wide range, no quibble returns.

Do you mostly ride locally or mostly travel around? Buying online is cheaper, but you might want to build up a relationship with your local store for when you really, really need something on a Saturday afternoon. Also, it's not impossible that the local shop will have a screaming deal. I got a Grex G9.1 for 99 euros locally.

Be careful with FC-Moto, they have dipped in customer service and don't always have in stock what they say online they have. I ordered a pair of trousers and got a jacket... After ignoring emails they only responded when i reviewed them. Then just started lying. In the end i kept the jacket and ordered the trousers from another supplier. Many others have had the same issue. Great in the past but in the last 6 months or so they have dropped the ball IMHO.

I had a shopping list of kit and visited FC Moto in Aachen because I wanted to be sure of sizes, etc. If you go there you'll understand why their customer service is poor, bits of clever kids doing anything but serving customers. It took me over two hours to spend nothing!

Pretty much every bike clothing shop I've ever been in has been like that. You could swap out the staff for a large dog to stop everything getting stolen and it wouldn't make any difference.
