Aduana Leaving Guate to MEX?

I'll be leaving Quetzaltenango in a few weeks and wanted to head northwest to Comitan, Mexico. I planned to cross at La Mesilla into Mexico. I did a little digging and found some varying reports about Migracion and Aduana here on HUBB.

When entering Guate a few months ago I closed my MEX TVIP at Huixtla and crossed at El Carmen.

Does anyone know if I can get all the necessary paperwork done around the La Mesilla crossing? I'd rather not have to loop south.

Thanks!

Yes , you can get your new TVIP at La Mesilla ; aduana and Migracion are 4 KM after the actual border .

Yup, the Mexican customs terminal is in the village at the bottom of the mountain. The Guatemalan terminal is right at the border gate in GT.

For others who are going to visit Guatemala and Central America it should be noted that when leaving Mexico you are permitted to leave the TVIP in effect IF your exit from Mexico to the USA will fall within the 180 day span of the TVIP . This will save you the cost of buying a new TVIP and the bother of collecting the Security Deposit only to have to post it anew. The choice is yours.
The FMM ( Tourist Card ) must be cancelled though whenever leaving Mexico at the southern end , then get a new one for the return trip.

There was a major inspection checkpoint north on the PanAm at the next major city. I think it was Comitan but I can't see it in the aerial photos. It looked pretty new, and it looked like the Aduana we went through in the interior of Mexico near Palenque. We were headed south so we were glad we didn't have to bother with it.
