Cooling vest for NW Africa?

Is a cooling vest a good thing, do you think it works well?
Do you wear the back plate between the vest and body, or on the outerside?
I'm thinking of HyperKewl Ultra Sport as a friend recommended it, would it be good, you think?
I may be able to buy it for around 60 euros.

Well, I ordered one, including a beanie, so if anyone wonders I could try to give my opinion after my trip!

Yes, let us all know how they work. You could do a thread in the Equipment review section
I am living in Thailand at the moment, although I don't have a bike over here yet but I will have eventually and the vest might be a good investment (no pun intended)

Another Swedish rider told me about those specific ones, and said those are really good in temperatures about 40 degrees!

Macna ( purchased through Twisted Throttle) worked well for us in 40 + Degrees last summer around Grand Canyon and Lake Havasu area. Just stick with the recommended water fill amount( 1/2 ) a litre I believe. They work based on evaporating and pulling the heat out of your core. They work.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
