Hi Alibaba - great pics!!
Just read your thread on the oversized tank for the HP2. Do you have an HP2? Do you know what the tank will cost? I am from South Africa and have been riding an HP2 for just over a year. Amazing bike! Have designed a fairing for it which works fantastically! Better than ANY road bike (including touring bike) Now all I need is the tank.....
Ride safe and thanks for the pics - looks awesome. They (HPN) are difficult to get hold of though, and their website is impossible!!

Thanks for the info - saw it on the same posting a bit earlier but I think it is UGLY compared to the HPN and VERY overpriced!! (you are right - millions of SA rands.....) Hope the HPN price will be a bit more reasonable...??

No I don’t have a HP2, I was thinking of buying one but I decided to rebuild the old bike I have. It’s a nice bike but it needed to many mods to suite my needs:-(

It’s best to call them. I haven’t been in contact with them for a while but I have heard that the tank is delayed and that it will show up on the web when it’s ready.

If your thinking of going anywhere remote you mite want to change the rear air shock as ive been told when they blow they leave the bike stranded sitting on the back wheel . My 1100gs rear standard shock blew off road in Senegal (it took loads of abuse off road in the desert in Mauritania fully loaded & carying & 70lts of fule & water ) was a 50mile ride to the highway (fall off potholes) & was like ridding o pogo stick or bucking bronco but it still got me home 4500mile .

PG Lundmark broke a shock somewhere in Africa. You can find it somewhere in his blog: High Performance Riding

HP2 Tank
I'll be sticking a larger tank on my HP2. For the extra few pounds in weight, I'd rather have the choice. If I want light, I just won't fill it to the top! The4 HP2 is so much lighter than the New Adventure, I had both but just sold the Adventure, as it is a very heavy bike still......

IMHO the air damping system is good for low weight, but for travelling I'd feel on the safer side with a normal shock. Never mind the additional weight, but if the seals break on the air shock, you're buggered. With a shock leaking oil you can carry on for hundreds of miles to get back to civilisation...

HP2 Tanks & Bits
G'day Felix,
I bought a HP2 Enduro in May 2012 (Absolutley love it !) After 10,000 K's in all terrain and reading up on as much as possible. I too have been looking at larger tanks as well as other bit's n pieces to get it a more ergonomic. I also like the look of the tank you posted and have spent hours searching the net as I imagine you have for the maker without luck.
George T's remark on overheating is a valid one, I also experienced high temp's in traffic on hot days (lost again) I think the HPN tank with the repositioned oil radiator (30% cooler or so they claim) is a damn good option albeit an expensive one.
I've come up with a list of mods I would like to do and I do understand these are personal choices.
HPN Tank & radiator.
Megamoto or sport gauges with taco.
Change the stock final drive ratio: From 2.82 to 2.91 possibly 3.0.
Full Arkrapovic exhaust system.
Ohlins or White power back n front.
Screen & heated grips.
Panniers & rack with rear frame support.
Then again (Yes I can just about hear some of your thoughts) it would be cheaper to buy a used GS and leave it stock standard !

The tank pictured is made by Boano in Italy. It carries 7 US gallons of fuel, looks good, is flimsy fiberglass, takes some funky plumbing to unite the three chambers, was built for the Megamoto for use with an attached front fairing, is I believe no longer available, and is probably not the best use of your money. I have one that needs a little work if you simply won't be discouraged.
