Selling HONDA CB160F in Chile/Uruguay/Argentina [Colombian Plates]

I've bought this bike earlier this year and travelled on it with my gf from Colombia to Chile reaching about ~ 15 000 km total.

This is HONDA CB160F which is not the most powerful bike, but it's almost new (you won't have to worry much about repairing it), it perfectly fits two people with all their luggage while maintaining a max speed ~ 100 km/h.

The bike has Colombian plates. Also it is one of the most popular bike in Colombia, so there is a market and demand and you won't have any problems selling it to a local.

Pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6qnonhA5t111xM5z7

What's included:

- a motorcycle
- sliders installed
- two helmets + radio system
- windshield and grips heaters ( that was installed additionally). PS: Make sure you have them on your bike even if you don't buy mine. It's gonna be freezing in andes region.
- saddlebags and a back 48L tomcat box

Also: new Rear tire was installed recently.

Asking price: $1500

Hey,
thank you for your post (nice bike!). Unfortunately me and my girlfriend will be in Peru. Are you going to visit Peru as well and maybe selling it to us?
Cheers

Hi,

As far as I know there is no way to sell it to you in Peru without legally importing it, paying duties and getting a local plate number.

In Chile, however, it can be sold with poder (power of attorney) and can consequently be driven out of the county without registering it in Chile. This has been successfully done by many here.

I couldn't find any information on the internet about selling it with poder in Peru.

Hi,

I'm interested, I'll be in Santiago, Chile from beginning of November. When we could make the deal?

I there any periodic vehicle inspection in Colombia? When it has to be done? Can I do it in other country or it has to be done in Colombia?

What do you think has to be done to do another 15k or more? I guess the chain/gears should be replaced, anything else? Did you do some maintenance? Like oil change etc.

I'm in Argentina right now, but I can be in Santiago once you are there.

The inspection is required in Colombia, but the bike is exempt from it for 2 years because it's a new bike (I have a manufacturer certificate that covers those 2 years). I was never asked for it though.

The chain need to be replaced for sure, I may consider doing it myself actually soon before heading to Santiago (don't want any issues happening on the way). The gears need to be checked, they looked not that worn when I last checked.

I was doing an oil change about every ~ 3000 - 3500 km. Also I've replaced a a spark plug recently and installed a new rear tire.

There shouldn't be anything serious to be done besides oil changes and chain/gear you've been mentioning.

Also just so you know: If you buy a Peruvian bike, they charge you $300 bail when leaving the country to make sure you return it back to Peru.

Hey mate, just to let you know. If you're transferring the right to ride the motorcycle aka "poder" you can do this in any country. I've done it for a Colombian bike in Perú no problems.

Also Perú don't charge anything to leave with a Peruvian bike, I've just done it.
