For sale: 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650 in Peru $2700

I am selling my 2009 KLR650 with USA plates and 36,xxx miles on the odometer in Piura, Peru. I bought this bike from an American traveller in Medellin, Colombia and made my way into Peru over a couple years. It's been in storage in Piura (hot but dry) for 2 years now. I have been trying to return for 18 months now, but work and life obligations have caught up with me and I won't be able to go back. Honestly it pains me to make this post. NOTE: THIS VEHICLE MUST LEAVE PERU WITHIN 78 DAYS OF THIS POSTING.
This bike is in excellent shape, it never let me down over the 10,000 miles I rode it for, as high as 4000 meters elevation. Since I relied on it, I was careful about maintenance, I have replaced the brakes once and the tires twice. It probably needs a new battery since it has been sitting. I am coordinating this and I will pay for it.

Inlcuded items and addons
Tusk Handguards
Tusk Billet Footpegs
Eagle Mike Raising Links
Eagle Mike Aftermarket Balance Chain Adjuster (Doohickey)
Tusk Handlebar Risers
Aluminum Skidplate
Crash Bars W/ Highway Pegs
Two tusk panniers and mounting racks
Handlebar guards
Tool tube
Upgraded seat (Sargent brand, much wider than stock)
Two 1 Liter MSR Containers for stove fuel/gasoline
Good size tank bag
RAM Mount phone holder
USB charger at handlebars
Bell MX-9 helmet ($200, best helmet I've ever used)
I added some cheap underglow lights for night time visibility. It was a safety choice, not a style one. There's also a medium sized motorcycle protective jacket.

There's more I am forgetting but it has been a while

Within the last 1000 miles

New Michelin/Heidenau tires
New brake pads
New forkseals and oil
X-ring chain
Carburetor cleaned.
There's more I am forgetting but I had the bike completely gone through at MotoHell in Quito

Spare parts

New clutch cable that's already routed and zip tied to the handle bars at the top and the frame at the bottom
tire irons
spare tube
brake pads
tools including wrenches and sockets
Spare oil and lubricants

The bike is in storage at a man's house in Piura and he will assist me and the buyer with the sale (I will be paying him). He frequently hosts travelers and speaks English very well and he is aware of my intention to sell. I will not be going to Peru.

NOTE: THIS VEHICLE MUST LEAVE PERU WITHIN 78 DAYS OF THIS POSTING. There is a number of steps to take to transfer everything properly but I know how to do it. If anyone is interested I will walk you through it.

This bike is registered in the United States with plates from Washington State. For those of you unfamiliar with laws here. It is possible to legally transfer ownership of this bike to someone of ANY nationality with a USA number plate in your name. All legal and it works like a charm. See www.overlandtitles.com, same service I used to buy it.

I will likely edit this post as I think of things in the next few days.

Are you aware of the rules I live in Colombia and I am a foreign resident . I know all the rules your bike cannot be legally sold in Peru .
Back packers Be Aware This is not a simple Process
Your loss is not a simple gain for travelers there are Laws
Your bike is not worth anything unless it is sold in Colombia

Could you quote where you are getting this information from?

This bike is registered in the USA and has no documents in Colombia. It entered the country on a Temporary Vehicle Permit and then left the country. That's what the permit is for?

If you know some other rules could you please explain? I believe what you are referring to only applies to Colombian vehicles.

You ride the bike out of Peru on a Carta Poder, and enter Bolivia/Chile/Ecuador under your own information. That's how everyone does it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
