New Zealand trip 7-27th of February 2016
have booked a 3 week trip on DR650 from the Te Waipounamu company starting in Auckland.
Want to ride and camp on both Islands. Any recommendations on route to follow to get the most out of this trip would be appreciated. Gravel/dirt roads are fine.
Thanks for the help, Dave

You are spoiled for choice in NZ, My personal favourites would be, Coromandel Peninsula, Taupo, in the North Island, The South is just sublime everywhere, The Nevis road, Skippers Canyon, Old Dunstan road, the Rainbow and Molesworth tracks being my choice of gravel there, it really is a truly wonderful place to ride a motorcycle!

using local websites
Hello
Check out the NEW ZEALAND MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURES - Home website and self guided tours , they provide routes they would do.
They have google map times and distances on them.
I,d give myself much more time than google map provides for stopping constantly for photos if you are that sort.
Watch the weather forecast to see which direction the weather is going , waiting a day or two reading a book can reward you with brilliant blue sky the next day.
But you are probably going at the best time of the year though.

Hi Mate
Check out the FAQ in the NZ section of advrider.com, adventureridingnz.co.nz & Remote Moto for some ideas & resources.
If you go through Rotorua on your way down you are welcome to camp on my lawn if I am home.
Cheers
Clint

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
