In answer, yes, although the majority of us are on 2 wheels, 4x4s have similar problems with border crossings, and I believe can contribute very much to the site. One day some of us 2 wheelers may go 4x4 and apart from that they will be seeing and sharing photographs from the same locations.

Yes to the poor devils on four wheels...
I've come across them in some obscure parts of the world and many of them have been very grateful to Horizons because of the great info it has.
"better than all the 4X4 websites" I was told by one driver.
so lets share the info and not restrict it (after all, they need all the help they can get)

In my experience its the 4X4 guys helping out the motorcyclists, not the other way round. I love 'em. I don't like what they do to single track trails .... but when someone's life is in the balance ... might be worth it. Often times sharing route knowledge is handy too. Or if you've run out of light and need to share a camp site. The Jeep guys have everything!
The best thing of course is most carry ICE COLD on board are are pretty generous with it! Sure, in places it takes them forever to get anywhere, but other times they float through without a care ... like in meter deep Sugar Sand in the heat of the day!
4X4 Guys are your best friend! chug

Okay, we all love the 4x4 guys..
We're all travellers and we all have our individual approach to the journeys we take..
I want an adventure, and to me that involves surprises along the way. What's the point knowing it all, having all the equipment and seeing photos of the places you're travelling to...
I don't have a gps or cell phone and I don't want anyone else to carry fuel/water for me.
I'm happy to get lost, I don't mind running out fuel in the middle of the bush, that's all part of it.
What I do want is to do it all on a motorbike.
When it comes to information I stick to what's relevant TO ME and that's from guys on two wheels.
I do like a cold though..

Happy travels, I'll toss you a cold on my way. Got one bikers baggage on board so not much room for another lot though wouldn't leave you stranded .
I wonder if you ride a bmw and only listen to their advice - yamaha folks don't know there arse from their elbos don't you know
mods - please move this to somewhere even less relevant

Why not....
I wouldn't consider going off in a 4x4, certainly not on a trip - I'm too much of a motorcyclist for that, I love the smell, feels, noises etc that motorcycle travel brings, even going to the shops!
But I must confess I do like to read the 4x4 sections, we all see the same problems, it just impacts us in different ways.
4x4 guys are usually a friendly bunch, happy to wave, talk sh!! at fuelstops and over a , happy yo help - so why not.
I think, more and more internet forums are moving to a more 'people who like people' basis, rather than what you ride, drive or lead by a rope! I like it, birds of a feather stick together as they say.

Just wondered if you were choosy which particular two wheeled info was relevant. Didn't meant to be contentious.
Have fun. chug

New to here (well not new but a long time lurker) and I think Info is beneficial for everyone, bit it on 2 or 4 wheels.
Despite being 4x4 driver I tend to read a lot of moto reports on here, just for information and I belive info provided by 4x4 driver can be as useful for moto guys.

Mango, 4x4 posts are just fine here. This is not just my opinion, so how do I know? Because they have a section here just for them. It's not rocket science.
Their needs are often identical to a bike rider's needs. They often assist bikers. We can help each other.
And because they clearly, obviously have a valued place here, your thread is inappropriate. .
IMO.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
