Hitchin and North Hertfordshire, UK

Welcome to the Hitchin HU Community
covering North Hertfordshire, including Letchworth Garden City, Baldock and Stevenage.

Scenes from Hitchin and Letchworth

The historic North Hertfordshire market town of Hitchin is situated just a couple of miles west of the A1(M) around 30 miles north of London, and only about 20 minutes from Junction 12 of the M1.

To the north east are the towns of Baldock and Letchworth (the world's first "Garden City", where you'll find the world's very first roundabout!). To the south east lies Stevenage, which has become famous recently for being the home of F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

If you're coming to tour the UK, the London Airports or south coast sea ports are likely to feature in your plans. Hitchin, or one of its neighbouring towns, could be an ideal stop-over point either when you first arrive and are heading north, or as you head south before departing again.

Get in touch with us if you'd like advice about the local area, including the best routes north and west, if you need a place to stay or if you want to meet and chat with fellow travellers over a beer.
