For some people, travelling thru Colombia by road is supposed to be a very dangerous endeavour, and even more if you go off the main roads. This book does not intend to prove otherwise. Colombian security has improved leaps and bounds, but if you get yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time (as in any country) things can go awful. Always ask around, and don’t take the roads we took for granted. Some are dangerous.
A travelogue of an Armenian traveling motorcyclist in Turkey, one hell of an experience!
Travelblog, in dutch but soon with short reviews in English
Pat has ridden 100,000 miles around the world and four times across Africa, always 2-up with his wife Ness (they married on the road after a proposal in Timbuktu). Having visited 100+ countries this site has some extraordinary photos, tips on bike modifications for the big trip, a kit list, route outlines and information about his recently published book 'BEARBACK, The world overland' endorsed by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
The site also details their setting up of a Land Rover 110 Defender TD5 in South Africa in which they undertook a 35,000 km safari through the whole of southern Africa.
Right Way Round ..' ?? Well, I'm not even sure where this trip will end. You see, I'm the original 'Uneasy Rider' .. not especially blessed with much natural motorcycling talent, nor am I a particularly courageous motorcycle rider. Nevertheless I went 'Right Way Round' New Zealand (3 times) - and then Australia.
Now it's up to South-east Asia and a ride beyond, through Indo-China, over the Himalayas, across to Asia Minor and maybe some of Africa .. finishing in Europe.
Right Way Round - all the way home .. to England on a Honda Transalp, or bust?!
Follow Tania and Francois Steyn on their three month journey from Cape to Cairo on two 200cc Motomia Chinese bikes. Everyone believes Chinese bikes are crap, read this to see how the bikes did on this 15 000 km journey through Africa...
It's my first travel blog and a summary of useful links. It should give a brief summary for upcoming travellers and tell about my "Adventure".
Nita and Issa find adventure in their own backyard, then North America and now the rest of the world. An ongoing story of letting go, doing more with less and living the life we were meant to live. Goodbye office, hello world!
All my life I've heard rumors of strange cultures and wondrous sights. I thought I knew the world from these rumors. Then I started reading books of people's travels and I began to realize that the world I've been told about might not be the world as it actually is. So I set off to find out the truth for myself and find the world is a very different place than the media would have had me believe. Along the way I hope to share what I can of my experience to help others understand what I have seen...
Great photos in black and white of a trip from UK to Europe in 1953.
The author writes:
"I have now been informed that so many modern foreign bikes ridden by smartly dressed English riders would have been quite a sight on Europe's roads. They would ride through France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. We think of old bikes as being unreliable, but my father and his friends were keen riders and engineers and completed the trip without much more than a puncture. The bikes that took part in the trip were:
GAU 856 Brough Superior SS100 with fuel in the loop sidecar.
AHC 650 Triumph Thunderbird. He bought this one on 22nd July 1950 for £219 16 9 and by the day they set off in July 53 - it had done 24,900 miles.
KBY 571 Sunbeam and VMM 871 Sunbeam."
