Party Time at Rancho Los Rosales?
After a great time relaxing and Wintering here in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, I will be leaving Mexico at the end of April. I plan for a few days in Tucson, stocking up on some things I just can't get down here, or else they are way too expensive [ Taste of the Wild SALMON dog chow for Xena, COSTCO canned foods, BIG bag of rice, a new Mountain bike, a HEAVY duty replacement sway bar for my van, Burger King Whopper, etc. ...
ya know what it is like after a few months gone Snowbirding].
I could reach El Rancho Rosales first week in May, if that works out for your scheduling?
I just need a place to park my self contained AWD Micro motorhome for the evenings, before and possibly during the Overland Expo. I would like to get to El Rancho a few days before the Expo, so I can explore a bit more around Flagstaff. So far, I really liked Tucson [and maybe Flagstaff] so much better than Phoenix. I may consider Arizona as an alternative to Ajijic for my next Winter ... although the cost of living and lifestyle in Ajijic are hard to beat.
If some people at the ranch want a ride, or to convoy/car pool? back and forth to The Expo, I can certainly go for that. I suppose most of your visitors will be on MOTORCYCLES, and after several years with a MOTORHOME instead of a MOTORCYCLE, I am getting excited about putting a small, light, off road capable bike on the back bumper. Maybe even an ELECTRIC bike.
It will be great to see all the OVERLAND vehicle solutions, ranging from pedal bikes, up to massive [ ?amphibious?] land yachts. Lots to see, lots to talk about in the evenings.
Looking forward to re-connecting with Ed and Elisa,
and meeting some of the interesting guests they will have.
C U soon,
Larry Z

Tiffany Coates & rosa del desierto at Expo
Overland Expo West Flagstaff, Arizona 2017
Seems to me the Baby Boomers have sent the kids packing, sold the farm and bought one of those new fangled campers with the tent on the roof and are touring - the suburbs? and visiting the kids in San Francisco.
Unbelievable, is all I can say to see so many older folks so involved with how to use a winch, and learning to drive Land Rovers - tie knots, cook outdoors, navigate and hundreds of other skills that won't be used until the next Overland Expo.
The high light of the Expo for rosa del desierto and me was attending the slide/lecture presented by Tiffany Coates and her collection of other over landers and locals - kids included.... All interesting folks... and all in AFRICA!
Tiffany - it was real! Rumor is Tiffany and several other women riders were expelled from an Overland soirée for being too wild! Just imagine...
Tiffany's presentation was GREAT, informative and connected. So often those who ride Africa assume the Humphrey Bogart / Katherine Hepburn / Lawrence of Arabia mantel but not Tiffany, she as real as it gets. And her authentic accent proves it. She is making a difference in her own style and we appreciate her. Great smile too!

And, rosa del desierto with two of our Rancho Los Rosales Airbnb guests during Overland Expo West. Yep, in front of their hundred thousand dollar Sport Mobile completely solar equipped, winches, hydraulics, spot lights, get out of the mud boards, special jacks and all manner of other stuff, yep, ready for action?
FYI, you all have an open invitation to visit Rancho Los Rosales, Flagstaff, Arizona... Indoor moto and safe RV parking ----
Eat, Drink, BE Real and come visit... anyone know where I can buy a boat like the African Queen and a crate of Gordons' Gin?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
