Angry temporary bike insurance North America

I was wondering if anybody who is planning to ship their bike to North America, has had any problems obtaining temporary motorcycle insurance ie from Fernet (DAIRYLAND). The reason I am asking is because, yesterday(November 18th) I went to the Birmingham motorcycle show and I got chatting to a guy from HC travel. He said that at the moment nobody can obtain temporary motorcycle insurance when you import your own motorcycle, but you will be able to obtain insurance from beginning of next year. If anybody has any info on this could you please let me know, as I am planning on sending my bike to Orlando in April 2019. I have tried emailing Fernet, but I haven't had a reply.

Hi
I went in USA last month and could purchase temporary insurance with "Progressive insurance" You will find website by google. I applied directly electronic form and got my card by mail. Fernet can do it too. I choosed the cheapest liability insurance and payed by card
But you MUST provide an adress in USA. If you don't have you can try with an hotel where you will have booked before. All documents are provided by mail but they send post mail too
I cancelled insurance as soon as I went out of USA and they did a refund of that I had paid more
Maybe next year it will be easier

There's a huge thread on this at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-bike-us-93901
Fernet has been providing insurance, and it "should" be better next year.
Nicolas36 comments are quite correct to my knowledge.

I rode around the US, for 6 weeks, earlier this year. Had no problems sorting insurance through Fernet. Talk to Cheryl, NOT Phyllis!. She will sort you out.
And read the link Grant posted.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
