Insurance for India motorcycle travel

Hello all,
I'll be riding through India starting in a few days. I'm traveling for about 44 days and covering the entire country with possible side journeys into Sri Lanka and Nepal. Trip is January 5th, 2015 - February 18, 2015.

I have looked at a few insurance websites linked from Horizon Unlimited.
https://www2.worldnomads.com/policy_...31d8d&state=GA

and

https://www.globalrescue.com/signup/...ml?rp=horizons

The problem is the policy with World Nomads makes it seem like it covers motorcycles in their policy, but when you read the fine print of the policies, the underwriter, Nationwide Insurance appear to exclude medical coverage.
Standard:
https://www2.worldnomads.com/files/D...GA-06-14-A.pdf

Explorer:
https://www2.worldnomads.com/files/D...GA-06-14-A.pdf

Does anyone have experience with World Nomads (insurance underwriting through Nationwide) or Global Resuce (non-insurance, membership program)

It appears this company maybe promising and posted in this forum:

HELP! This seems to be way more complicated than it should. I don't want a pickle, I just wanna ride my motorcicle!

Hi khalestorm and welcome,
You will have to start by telling us where you are from as in passport and where you are resident if different, it matters more for medical insurance than just about anything other than visas.

I bought Nomad Insurance while travelling to UK from here but did not go thro the finer prints. The finer print clause u mention about not including motorbike medical coverage its shocking. Bajaj Alliance in India provide one.

Not sure what current situation is but back in 1994 I purchased bike insurance in Delhi for a UK registered bike with me travelling on an Irish passport. Cost was incredibly cheap, the price of a bag of chips in Uk at most, I think I just needed it for presenting to Police at stops. However I would not have depended on it for any major payouts in terms of my bike being repaired, medical expenses etc. Just walk into any major Insurance agent in India and you should be able to arrange bike insurance if that is all you need.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
