North Sumatera

Will be flying to Medan next month and spend almost a month in Sumatera before flying back to Malaysia.

I have the bike rental organized ... a Yamaha NMAX 155 scooter.
I have my routes planned as follows.

Medan - Berastagi 2 nights
Berastagi - Ketambe 2 nights
Ketambe - Takengon 2 nights
Takengon - Sigli 1 night
Sigli - Banda Aceh 1 night
Banda Aceh - Melauboh 2 nights
Melauboh - Tapak Tuan 1 night
Tapak Tuan - Sidikalang 1 night
Sidikalang - Tuktuk Siadong, Samosir - 3 to 4 nights

I still have about 5 days after Tuktuk Samosir and don't want to go to Bukittinggi,Padang in West Sumatera as it's a long ride from Lake Toba and then rush back to Medan.
I would prefer to do West Sumatera for another trip.

So, where do I go in North Sumatera for another few days after Tuktuk Siadong,Samosir?

Thought of heading towards the south a bit and then loop back to Medan.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I spent a couple of days in Bukit Lawang and did amongst other some orangutan trekking. Thought Bukit Lawang was a cool place to hang out for a couple of days…

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
