Have rentals, will travel, reccomendations for adventures in SEA

Hi all,
My girlfriend and I are travelling in SEA from september on and my brother is joining us from OZ for a 2 to 3 week tour. He lives there, we live in Ireland so it's a great chance to meet up, rent bikes and hit the rad
We're going to rent bikes and do best of loops in each country so we're looking for some adventure recommendations, so I thought why not ask the good folks here what they've got up to and what they'd recommend.

We are on for some beginner to intermediate off roading, putting bikes on log boats you name it.
At the moment we're thinking Thailand chang mai into Laos and back might be good fun.
All suggestions from your experience welcome
Thanks
Ro

Yep, Chiang Mai would be probably the easiest place to go to for renting. And it´s not like you´ll run out of perfect roads in that area any time soon.......

Or, if your rental company allows it, cross into Laos, and put the bikes on a “slow boat” (small cargo boat) and travel on the Mekong from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang (we actually did this the other way round, in 2005)

A lot of great mountain roads in northern&eastern parts of Laos, too... unpaved ones could be a handful, if it rains, though..

Not so many mountains in Cambodia, but some pretty challenging backroads on offer.. somehow that country is probably my favourite in that whole region (photo is from Pailin)...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
