Smile Ride of Smiles over USA /Canada/ Brasil / Paraguay / Uruguay / Argentina / Chile /Aus

Dear Bikerfellows and friends,

this is to introduce and say hello to everybody out on the road from the Ride Of Smiles - 50.000 miles - RIDE OF SMILES - THE PROJECT
Being on tour since May 17th with a start in New York the idea of our project is to raise 50.000 Euros of donations on 4 NGOs as there is Doctors without borders, the Christian Blindmission, United for Africa and the Bavarian STERNSTUNDEN. All well estabished and trustworthy partners – helping and supporting the poorest people on the less shiny side of life for decades.
I have intially strated the project putting up 7000 Euro of my personal money and will add another 1000 on the way. At this stage on 16 th of June 2015 the donationscore is at 13465 Euro after 1 month on the road.
Riding with benefits comes from 33 years of travelling on motorcycles all over the place - and at this trip makes an effort to pay back for all the help and support ever received whilst travelling . Most of the times with hardly ever anything appropriate to give back in return.
So this time the bike ist the mean to raise peoples and bikers‘ attention alike to those who need our help. We shall therefor try to ride a GPS-tracked „50“ on the worldmap. Taking the ride all over Northamerica, east to west via Nova Scotia across Canada and back to Miami. From there it will be flying to Fortaleza Brazil around the 17th of July 2015 to continue via the Brasilian eastcoast to Paraguay, Argentina and Chile to complete the „5“.

Once that is done the bike will be airshipped to Australia to go all around for the „0“ and will go for a final 6000 km „!“ to New Zealand for the end.

The project started on May 17th in New York City and so far went 10.000 km via Nova Scotia all the way to Vancouver Island. From there it will be down to San Farancisco and back to Miami as planned.

Onwardflight to Fortalezza is planned around the 17th of July .
The Southamerican led is planned to end of November 2015.
Australia and NZL is planned December 2015 to End February 2016.

By the end of the project we hope to have achieved as many donations as possible as well as the attraction to the problems of those , who cannot raise their vices, as they are to weak to stand up and fight for themselves. Whatever we get from this- the 13000 Euro are already done to bring a smile and some dignity back to peoples lives.

So if anybody of you is travelling along in those areas as scheduled, it would be great to share some miles on the the road together. Any donations are welcome, but not at all precondition for that please 

I will also appreciate any current informations on tansports Miami /Brasil , Chile /Argentina and Argentina /NZL. As much as accomodations on a budget level, especially if they have space to get the bike off the road for the nites. Any other Information on Security is as welcome as informations on Bordercrossings or motorcycle repair ( guess there wont be too many for the GSA 1200 LC by now ) 
It will be great to meet some of you bikers if you maybe are along the route or even better touring yourself in these areas at the time.So if you like to join the Ride-of-Smiles somewhere along the line please feel free and welcome to contact me. Preferably via the contactform of the homepage or here via the forum ( which makes it a bit more difficult for me to answer you from out on the road)

Anyway it would be great if you support the project by spreading the news or even your donations – and even nicer to ride some stretch together around this cruel, crazy and beautiful world.

Sorry if I posted this maybe on the wrong spots of the Forum as time on the road right now does not allow me to go through all details before posting.

Bye for now – hope to see you on the road

BABA from Vancouver Island

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
