Making friends

Hey Grant.
It may just be my personality, but I can't make friends.
Adding someone as a friend returned a "Page not found" error.
I hope to someday have some friends....

Chris

I'll be more than happy to be your friend. Now, where is the frigging "friend" button...?

Under "view public profile" you get by clicking on the name of a user.
In your case, Thomas, it says
"T.REX63 has not made any friends yet"

This is terrible, ...I'm friendless in Atlanta .

Tried to be your friend, but the systems kicks me out too...

Edit: I take that back, checked my "Friends & Contact" section, and I do have 4 Friends & Contacts.... Still, the system kicked me out when I used the button you suggested :confused1:

Hey Mika!!
I think that it is so you can keep the contact information of your HU friends in one place.
I just like to try new things, so I had to click on the friend button!

It actually seems to be working, but it sends you a "Page not found" error anyways.

Yes - it works, but the path you are redirected to is wrong. Another annoying little bug we need to sort - you can correct it if you read the path - it's basically there twice - e.g. this path:

Code:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/user/chris-in-tokyo
is what I got when I "friended" Chris - the correct path is simply the last bit, from the second http on:

Code:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/user/chris-in-tokyo
Sorry for the bugs guys, we're working on it but it will take a little while!

Mika, it's all about connecting with people!

There's a LOT of stuff we on the web we may - or may not - need - or want - like facebook - but some people do - if you don't want it, ignore it. BUT some people love it and will use it a lot - and we always try to make everyone as happy as we can!

Some people say we don't need the web... or electronic ignition, points worked fine... 5 gears - heck 4 was plenty! etc...

Use what you like and ignore the rest! And have a

Hello Grant,

yes well said, and true ... I only use what I like the rest I ignore ... but also things that I like change and become unusable for me ...

after I read your word ... this came to my mind ....

you have 4523 friends on Fakebook/Twister or now on the Hubb .... but you have forgotten who is a real friend, and what the word friend means.

sure I understand that you have to make as many users of your website as happy as you can, make it as popular as Fakebook/Twister and have all informations on the Hubb easily connectable/exchangable with this websites.

first they changed from 4 to 5 gears, than from points to electronic ignition and in the near future you cant ride a bike anymore without a black box that records where you go, how fast you go .... and all other details of your life ... and than they switch off your bike from a remote computer because you could miss your next flu shot appointment if you leave town .....

One day I will walk into a bar, the cctv camera on the road told the owner of the bar already that I am coming ... he can see on his monitor behind the bar, that I had two s in other bars in the last hour, that I did not pay for my health insurance in three months and also that in 1997 the police took my license for speeding. So I go to the bar and ask for a , the barman tells me, because of all the smilies drinking on my Hubb posts, he can not give me a , because his insurance would not cover me having an accident in his bar because I have a drinking record.

Yes, everybody has to decide when to stop supporting this so called developments....

My 2 p worth at 2.50 am about your words connecting with *friends*

Saludos de Salta
Mika

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
