Medical/Travel insurance - Good News

Navigator have sorted the under writer, 12 month policies - extendable. Coming out at about £300 to £400.

Just got ours sorted - just as well, we leave tomorrow !!!!
Heading NZ to UK.

I had a policy with World Nomads but cancelled it due to waiting a week for generic responses, piss poor customer service and then there was the price which was $1300 AU for a 6 month period ;-0

Navigator sounds very interesting, not to mention very well priced. I had a quick look at the website. Do they specifically insure 2 wheeled adventure riders globally with repatriation ect ?

Happy travels, Dave.

Best thing is to use the old communication method and call them. They emailed the policy wording to us within 5 mins with a quote. The medical cover does include repatriation and up to £5 million. The travel insurance side is standard stuff that we would probably never bother using.

Motorbikes any cc, off road is covered so long as it is designated as a road, off piste is not.

The maximum single policy is 18 months, minimum is a month.

We called back to confirm and pay, got the policy Doc back same day, Navigator are old hands at looking after Adv riders.

My bum hits the seat of NZ1 at 3pm today - get the bike out of storage in NZ and ride it home to the UK. This time filming the trip and doing a blog - I'll try and copy the blog onto a ride report on here.

Ride safe

world nomads customer service 0.5 out of 10!

Everyone has a different experience and history will tell you a bad experience will get 10 times the exposure than a good one.

Just stating facts, my dealings with world nomads were some of the worst I've experienced, their customer service would rate at 0.5 out of 10! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

Happy trails Paul.

I'll have to use World Nomads as Navigator is only for UK residents.
If anybody knows of another option please tell me.

Spoke with Richard at Navigator today and purchased an 18 month "Standard" policy for my wife and myself. Not quite sure what we'll do when the 18 months are up as it is NOT possible to renew these policies whilst already on your trip (we're planning for a lot longer than 18 months).

Also looked at World Nomads. On the face of it look OK but there is a clause that specifically states that "Motor Biking (excluding touring or where a motor bike is the main mode of transport". Find details here World Nomads - Policy Wording: Millstream Underwriting Ltd UK Aug 2010 under the Sports & Activities section.

I've yet to find any policy that can be purchased whilst you are away from the UK or renewed if you are already on your trip. What I can't figure out is what travel/medical insurance do all those travellers already on the road have if they are away for periods exceeding 18 months?

Cheers
Steve

ADAC makes 24 month insurance (langzeit versicherung). Motorcycling ok. Possible to renew after 24 months if you go to their office in person (soon I need to find new insurance, because no plans to go to Germany in near future).
ADAC works really well as I was able to see after my accident in Indonesia

This is awesome news although we still have 12 months left until we're due for a renewal on ours we managed to get an 18 month policy from them at the start but were aware we'd have to go somewhere else next year.

I am really please to see we don't have now, Richard is really easy to work with.

1 stop travelinsurance

Hi people,

can I ask whether anyone has considered or know about 1 Stop Travel insurance?

1Stop Travel Insurance

I got the following quote from them yesterday over the phone:
- Cover any bike as long as I have a license on the country where the bike is registered.
- The coverage is only on road which are considered public roads on by the national authority in whatever country you are. This is a bit of a broad definition, but I guess is more concrete that the one from TRaval Navigator, which only cover these roads where a "saloon car can go through".
- Motorcycling is considered Hazard 1 grade.
- Covers worldwide but USA, Caribe and somewehere else, cant remember.
- Price: 353£ for 8 months with 100 excess on EACH claim.
- Price 2: 1064£ for 8 months if you want to include diving or other sports.

I can see that Travel Navigator (which I also contacted) is a better deal money wise, but I am not so sure about their condition for coverage:

"Roads do not, however, need to be tarmac, as long as they are what passes for the highway locally and they are passable by a saloon car."

Not that I am going to go crazy off-roading far in remote areas, but I dont know whether that condition could be too restrictive on practice.

What do you think? Any comments? I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

We were told 'no' by Navigator in the past so that's good news about them.

My wife is a British expat and I'm Polish, so neither of us qualifies as the UK resident.

I've been in touch with World First (underwriter - Rothwell and Towler) and it looks promising:

1. No CC restrictions.
2. Can insure while on a move.
3. For all EU residents.
4. Price for 12 months for non-UK residents starts at 125 GBP (with 1600 GBP excess).
5. Europe zone includes all the stans. (strange!)

Here's the link:
Non UK Residents Travel Insurance at World First

Hope this helps somebody as it took me a while to find all this.
