Countries allow to register your ownership^^ share your ultimate experince**

For the people who done it already,

Please share with all the riders who love explore the world,

Who are the countries (map can be awsome) that allow,

Without any kind of racisem or stupid paperwork/residence status/taxes/official address and the other bullshit available to prevent freedom of movement,

To any one on a basic tourist visa, to buy any new motorcycle he wishes and register it as easy as it as the only owner of the motorcycle in goverment computers. I repeat again, not any kind of transfer paper, but fully ownership of that motorcycle. Thank the shop and continue complete your dream of riding.

Im trying to plan my second motorcycle trip in new continent. First was 13,800 km in south america.
I just entered a dealer in Bogota capital in Colombia, i smiled, gave my passport, completly on tourist visa, payed with debit card, register 5 minutes at thier transportation goverment office "runt" that im driving in colombia, 10 minutes at the dealer and i was officialy owner of new motorcycle in colombia. Wated 1 week, a new bike plus card of ownership and insurence paper for 1 year waiting for me at the shop.

So with my experince 2017, colombia is a country who anyone around the world can buy new motorcycle and be the owner which the goverment has record in thier computers who prove that.

Please,

The experienced who done it, for any one who bought a new motorcycle and registered it on his name outside of your residence country in anywhere around the world.

where are the blessed countries who allow it?

Thanks,

Sky

You also need to include confirmation that getting out of that country and into the next was possible because it isn't always.

ownership registration

Hi there,

as nobody else wants to start, I will. But be aware some of my info is maybe not up to date.

2001. Australia. Could register a bike in my name on a tourist visa under a friends address. Easy. Sydney. XTZ660 Tenere

2002. Argentina. Could register a bike in my name on a tourist visa. One week for the paperwork. Difficult. BsAs. XR200R. But was not allowed to leave the country with the bike, but managed to do so.

2003. Japan. Could NOT register a bike in my name on a tourist visa. Registered it in a friends name and got an international number plate. Difficult. Utsonomiya. XL250R.

2008. South Africa. Could register a car in my name on a tourist visa under the address of the previous owner. Easy. Cape Town. Toyota Landcruiser.

2013. Bolivia. Could register a new bike in my name on a tourist visa. Easy. Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Chinese MT125

Hope this helps.

Saludos
mika

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
