Ferry costs Algeciras/Tarifa to Ceuta/Tanger
I've just returned from a marathon six-week, 8200-mile trip to Morocco and beyond. In Western Sahara I met up with several British motorhome owners and they told me of a guy known as Carlos who organises cheap ferry tickets across the Straits of Gibraltar.
Apparently he is very well-known in the motorhome community and operates from an office close to Lidl and Carrefour in Algeciras (come off the E15 at junction 112). Motorhome owners sort their tickets with Carlos, then do their shopping and park overnight at Lidl before getting the morning ferry. One couple said their ferry this time from Algeciras to Ceuta was €100 return for motorhome and two passengers.
See Forums where someone was quoted €71 return for a Land Rover.
Could someone please follow this up and find out how much he charges for bikes!
Tim

I cross to Morocco every month with groups of around 10/20 motorhomes........also with groups of 4x4's. We have used IndoTours for around 15 years with current cost as previously posted at 190 euro return.
We would like to try Carlos, and have attempted in the past, but as we are "client" driven we can't take chances and find that calling is impossible on landline [fax only], and their mobile number is answered by someone who know nothing [in Spanish] about ferry tickets!! I also saw one of their cheap [100euro] tickets last week and it was in fact a day return with face price of 45 euro. Ticket holder got through checkin OK......this time.......but !!

Hi Tim
The reply to my email, asking for 16 return tickets for a tour during March, got the following reply......... .............nothin'. Phone continued to answer via fax machine and gave up on the wrong mobile number.......
BUT, as I was in Algeciras yesterday I called into their office [take the right turn oposite Lidl and they are just into the next left turn] and found an English speaking, young, grumpy and very unhelpfull girl who could not take her eyes off the TV.......She seemed to do everything to make my request impossible. Her Spanish assistant looked on blankly but didn't help [I speak Spanish].
They found my email under a huge pile of other unanswered papers.......
We were about to give up an leave when Carlos walked in.............within seconds we/he arranged 16 open return tickets for next Wednesday and a similar number at same price for every month this year [camping car + two persons = 100 euro.......tour leader/vehicle free!].
Forgot to ask about bikes and 4x4's but at those prices it hardly matters......
Next test is to see if the tickets work!!!

Hi all,
We just rocked up on a monday in mid Feb at around 11.00, went up to the ticket desk for the red ferries (sorry, I forget the name) & booked 2 bikes for the 13.00 (supposedly fast sailing) to Cuetta for 35 Euros per bike 1 way. Boat finally left 13.45 & took over an hour but was fine. H

Despite the [some] tickets being day returns......my one was in fact out of date, seems I should have returned two days before I left!..........they all worked and were excepted on the return jouney. We paid 95euro Ceuta-Alg return and face value showed around 35euro........
Second visit to office was swift and efficiant with another 18 tickets ready and waiting with sailing times enclosed...... extra info included campsite leaflets, entre docs etc. We caught agreed ferry and was met by their agent at dockside who helped get group to front and through booths......

Update on prices and location.....
I have just returned from Maroc...I got an open ended return ticket on 22nd Dec 2008 for a LR Discovery,2 adults and 3 children for 400 euros...
When driving along the main autoroute to Algerciras from the direction of Malaga/Gibraltar arrive at a bridged junction 112. Exit here to your right and sweep off to a small roundabout. Take a right turn here and drive over the bridge of the autoroute. You`ll see a large `Carrefour` tradenamed supermarket to your right,as you arrive at yet another small roundabout. Go straight on at this, and also its here you`ll see a yellow sign amongst other signs stating `Tickets to Maroc`or suchlike...you`ll arrive at another small roundabout...turn right here...after about 100m you`ll see a large carpark on your left...and also to the left you`ll see the same yellow formatted sign of the ticket office. Its behind the Carrefour as stated in previous posts. Park your vehicle in the car park and go see the man...we left Tarifa for Tanger on the fast ferry...don`t forget to go to passport control as soon as you get on as the trip is only about 45mins max.

Yip Tomo...might not be a bad idea...I forgot to mention I did try only one ticket offices at the side of the road where the price for the same crossing was only about 25 euros more...still,25 euros in diesel for onward travel is the way I look at it!!!
