Kyrgyzstan vehicle insurance

We have just found out where to get vehicle insurance in Bishkek.

The insurance company is called KyrgyzInstrakk, located at 219. Chui Avenue, 2nd floor. The entrance is just down a little alley off Chui Avenue. A young gentleman called Arafat Ucenov, spoke enough English and was very helpful.

Interestingly, vehicle insurance is not common here. If/when there is an accident, both parties negotiate who is at fault, and this make take up several hours to come up with an agreement, and decide how much to pay.

I can confirm that KyrgyzInstrakh can issue insurance for Kyrgyzstan, just used them this morning to cover our Merc 814DA, cost was $25 for 30 days, basic 3rd party cover. They can do comprehensive also, cost for us would have been $100 for 30 days.

Met Arafat, very helpful guy, spoke good English.

He also told me they could provide cover for Uzbekistan, cost the same, they have an office in Osh, 117 Kurmanjan Datka St.

Since 2016, 3rd party insurance (OMTPLI) is mandatory. The Kyrgyzinstrakh website is surprisingly helpful.

Do you know how the payment side operates? I see that there's a form for contact info and send button at the end of the OMTPLI page.

Sorry, I don't know. If you're thinking of using that online service maybe it has a payment form later in the application. If you give it a try I'd love to hear the result, so much easier than struggling to find the office.

I did that too, and they answered me.
You can insure your bike, but it is not mandatory.
They say it will be in 2019

It seems helpful, but it looks like it is not so correct.
When I wrote them, they answered that things changed and insurance will be mandatory starting 2019.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
