Smile 1st HU Indonesia Meeting is on May 18-21, 2017

Great news! World traveller and good friend Jeffrey Polnaja is organising the 1st HU Indonesia Travellers Meeting on Sumbawa Island, a surfing and diving paradise.

Jeffrey says: "After completing my solo Round the World trip in 9 years, it's time for me to host fellow travellers and friends I met from all over the world, to visit my home country, in the beautiful island of Sumbawa. We welcome you, beginner or experienced. Come and meet your own tribe, chat and have a coffee in a private beach or even share your amazing journey."

Life's a beach!

Where is it happening?

To be a little more precise:
8°27'29.64"S, 117°21'41.32"E

Mark your calendars and put it on your route, online registration is open now!

WOW - that would have been something! I rode through Indonesia 1,5 years ago and spent 3,5 months there. One of the most amazing countries Ive ever been to. And a HU-meeting there must be great.

I encourage everybody who had a chance to go there and participate to do so...

Sounds very tempting. I'm about to be laid off and ready for a trip. So does anyone have any information on where I can rent a little bike in Indonesia. The outfits in Bali seem to restrict their rentals to the island of Bali only, and Java doesn't seem to have much available at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Michelle,

There are many little motorbike rental in Bali.

You can rent little bike Bali and ride it to Sumbawa via Lombok...

Hi Jeffrey and thanks for the reply.

Would it be best to just book a flight and then find a bike in or near Denpasar when I arrive? Or should I try and book a bike before even leaving Canada? If I do this, I'll most likely fly into Denpasar and go from there.

Thanks
...Michelle

Hi Michele,

Just to make sure that the bike you rent suitable with you, just try find a bike in Denpasar.

The journey from Denpasar to Sumbawa is amazing, will cross 2 straits.

Have a safe ride,

Cheers

Jeffrey

HU Indonesia 2017 - Can't Wait!

We have been in Indonesia now for 2 months riding through the majestic island of Sumatra and currently in Java. Our reception in these lands has been outstanding and we are looking forward to an active participation in the first ever HU Indonesia Event when I'll be rambling on about our Pan-American travels and also how our latest venture has taken us from Northern Ireland to Indonesia. Maggie will also be offering free Yoga sessions to unknot those aches and strains from the long road to Sumbawa. Hope as many riders as possible can come and joins us for what promises to be an incredible four days...

Thank you Sunda. I've been in touch with Kris and they seem to be the most promising option so far.

This was a fabulous event. Jeffrey and the gang did a fantastic job organizing. Met so many good people. 250 in attendance. 220 hard core Indonesian riders from all over. Great time.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
