Wolfman Luggage - Alfa Rear Bag
Has anyone used a rear bag from Wolfman Luggage called "The Alfa Rear Bag"? I am looking for something for my XR250L to take to Baja this winter on a dual sport ride.
I am wondering specifically how this bag holds up off road and if you need a rear rack? Sent you an email, but in case anyone else is interested... I just picked up an Explorer tank bag for my KLR from Wolfman.
While I was there we tried an Alpha on my bike to see how it fit with my tail box (EMGO J.C. Whitney special). I love it (the Alpha) and will be buying one shortly. It fits well on the seat ahead of my rear rack and has three mounting straps. I'd recommend calling Eric over there to see if he can help you out on fitting it to your XR. He was very helpful and does a lot of trail riding himself.

Hey I got your email and will be contacting Eric over at Wolfman. When you get your Alfa Rear Bag, be sure and let me know how it works out for you, I am going to do a bit more investigating, but Wolfman sounds like a pretty good product. And BTW Tony, my bike is a bit older than the one in the picture, its a 1992 XR250L. I am going to check out your recommendations as well, thanks for the help. -Dave

I just got the Explorer tank bag and the tank panniers from Wolfman and I ride an XR650. They're made to fit the KLR specifically but haven't had any problems in adjusting them to my bike. The alpha bag looks like a good system but I would question if it would fit on a smaller XR w/out a rear rack. Check out www.xrsonly.com for solid rear racks. Tony's Ortlieb suggestion is a good one. They're inexpesnive, durable and WATERPROOF.

i use a soft tailpack that about 18" cubed, easy big enough to put a helmet in.the sides unzip and fold down to cover the paintwork so the built in bungees dont scratch. i have a hard top box on the luggage rack, but this bag can go between it and me if i dont have a pillion.it works great, doesnt need a rack and its very secure on the move, but bear in mind its quite easy to steal!
