Anyone got them? Any good? Or better just get the usual rubber gaiters?
I just received mines and then I'm not so sure anymore, so anyone who tried and tested them, I'd love to hear about that! Cheers! This is what Touratech says: "Specially developed for the F650GS and with the help of a dear customer, a fork guard for the front wheel forks. The guards are fitted on the top to the side of the fender cover with special clamps. Te fork protectors are then held in position by guides that are also fitted to the lower cross stabiliser. If low mudguards are used these may have to be cut into a somewhat here. But this isn't really a problem, especially with Touratech mudguards. But the decisive advantage of these fork guards is that unlike traditional rubber gaiter fork guards, the cross section of air for the water cooler is not reduced. Also all sealing rings and fork spars are constantly accessible. Thus a leak or other damage can easily be remedied. Even mud can be removed quite easily. – No more hidden problem areas. Very simple and easy to fit." |

TT Fork Guards
I've had them on my Dakar for about a year and have been very pleased with them. They really stop all of the dead bugs and such from collecting on the tubes. A lot of folks don't realized that a gnarly dried up bug exoskeleton can take out a fork seal. I still clean my tubes during a trip, but the TT guards do a great job.

Touratech fork guards
I have had the Touratech fork guards on my Dakar for 2 years now. They work great for protecting the fork shaft and seal from bug guts and rock chips. But I found that if you are travelling on wet loose surface roads the fork shaft get covered in grit which eats the seals.(even with low fender)

I have them. Actually just put them on. Cutting the lower fender was no problem with a Dremel tool. I have to relocate my PIAA lights to the fairing crash bar, as they were hitting the brace. A number of people I ride with have them and recommended them to me. They are not supposed to block the radiator as much as fork boots.
