Thanks Matt

Cheers Matt,

I was just wondering about the effectiveness of this...I'll give it a go and let you know how it works out on my trip in Europe this summer.

Nikwax will work in any jeans as long as they are treated with the prepwash first and even better if they are new. The problem is that they will only maintain the waterproofing until the next time you wash them with normal soap.

I am buying some nikwax this week to waterproof a couple of my motorcycle jackets and maybe for my gloves if I get around fixing the velcro.

I wanted to waterproof some jeans, but in reality how long can I wear them before washing them?

Ok I bit the bullet.

Today I had to service my bike so while I was waiting down I went to the outdoors shop.

Bought the wash in for the jackets, the tech wash, the cotton proof and the gloves aplicator.

Everything has been treated and is currently drip drying.

Can´t wait until the jackets and the jeans are dry to hose them down.

My wife's jeans hadn't been washed before (Yikes!), but she only rides occasionally as a pillion so they weren't really dirty. And if they stay out of the washing machine for a few months they will keep the waterproofing.

I may use the video camera to make a video report after they dry.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
