F800 GS Spares Kit

Hi to All,
this is my first post at HUU having just started organising a trip through Cambodia, Laos, china and Tibet. I have just bought a 2013 F800 GS and am looking at getting together essential spares to take with me. I was wondering what anyone else's experience of their F800s as been on long trips and what if anything has needed spares / replacement parts on their journey. Having looked at some F800 forums i have the following:

Ring Antenna
wheel bearings
regulator / rectifier
front headlamp bulbs
chain/ sprocket

I know that the more you try and cater for every eventuality, you will be taking a truck with you just to carry the spares and that is definitely not the plan Eventualities are all part of the journey and the fun. Any thoughts or experiences F800 owners might be able to give me would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance

Add ignition switch to that. I've known a few of them to go over the years.

Alternator too if you're very unlucky. But it's not viable to carry one. Learn how to check that it's working. Very easy with a £5 multimeter.

Wheel bearings last forever on them. Five years as a BMW tech and I can't remember ever having to do them

Headbearings are a different story. They seem to go every 10,000 miles. Constant greasing and adjustment is required to keep them tight.

Dear Ted,

apologies for the delay replying. Many thanks. I have heard of issues with the Ring Antenna but I think this may have been something in the earlier models thank 2013.

Once again, thanks for the advice.

Best

James

Correct. The early ones were abismal. They revised the antenna. They do still fail though. They're very small and light. Daft not to carry one .

I'm a full time BMW technician.
