Shipping Bike Into Korea
Has anybody shipped a bike into Korea (other than via Russia) Looking at the postings it looks like the guys who came by ferry from Russia declared the bikes as hand luggage.
Dont know if will be able to do that from Australia, so looking to see if anyone has shipped either sea or air.
Also any up date in re ferry Korea/ Russia

I think it shouldn't be a problem, regardless of where you're coming from. In the meantime I heard of two or three other people who brought their bike to South Korea. The Dong Chun Ferry between Sokcho, Korea, and Vladivostok, Russia looks like it's still operating: http://www.dongchunferry.co.kr/ (do you speak korean or russian? ;-)

If you're interested, I still got the documents I've received from korean customs. I could scan it to my computer and if you know somebody who understands korean, he can translate it for you.

Thanks Marco,

Was hoping to see if anyone had used a non RORO as I think customs are going to be different if my past experience with other countries are of any guide. Am looking to see if there is a RORO from Oz, but so far no luck.

Motorcycles are considered the same as automobiles (or so I was told...)

Dear Guys,

I'm Korean and living in Seoul.
It is too late to help you this time but I hope this would be help to anyone.

I would like to post the full timetable of
the ferry but this page is too small.
Then I can show you the breif schedule.

You can take the ferry from vladivostock to Sockcho on every second saturday at 10:30am.
It arrived on next day.

Although I'm not a motorbiker, I'm interested in motorbike and dream about motorbike travel around the world.
If anyone has concern I will give little help. Good luck.

This year at least five foreign bikers entered Korea, including myself.

I have not heared of problem with importing a bike, nor with extensions of bike registrations.

Custum officers have been very helpful, in one case they even provided me with a translator, who basically went though the custom procedures for me. I just hat to sit, wait and drink bad coffee.

I'm interetsted in taking this route from Vladivostok to Korea and on by airfreight to Seattle from Korea.

Can anybody confirm ferry timetables ? I can't get this info anywhere ?

Who the hell has declared his bike as hand-luggage? That sounds really funny, probably a good idea ;-))
We came from Zarubino RUS to Sokcho KOR and had no problems on the ferry - even with bikes as bikes and not as hand-luggage.

Hi Kevin!

ferries from Zarubino to Sokcho leave every wendsday and saturday. time table you will get in the dong-chung ferries office in vladi in the port office next to the railway station.
for leaving russia Zarubino might be the better port - we heard many bad stories from the customs in vladi.
Road to the small and nice port town (about 200km from vladi) is ok and nice scenery.
