I have been advised to fit the following spark plug to my bike -

SPLITFIRE SF 416 C

I wanted to ask you all what are the advantages of this plug -

1. Over a standard NGK?
2. How is the Splitfire plug different from most other makes?
3. Is it worthwhile spending a few more pennies of this plug?

I was always led to believe that NGK were the very best plugs for bikes but perhaps the situation has now changed somewhat? I am a returning biker (after a 10 year break).

I use NKG always have. well, nearly always........

apart from a set of "Champion" plugs I got on offer once... fitted them in my BMW k100RT, did 200 miles, replaced them with NKG and threw the "Champions" away! (I got 4 for the price of 2, I wonder why? Cos they were CRAP is why...lol) They missfired under hard acceleration and didn't start at all well.

I have no experience of the Splitfire plug you mentioned, apart from the fact I have seen & read the blurb.

NGK have a proven record and I have never had an NKG plug let me down.

NGK or Denso are the best.NGK you can get with a V groove centre electrode,Denso has a U groove earth electrode.....same result as a Spitfire,and you can tell your friends about them and they won't laugh at you for choosing a naff plug.

Splitfire are good plugs - they made my XTZ660 much easier to start, and did the same for my dad's SRX600 - which was a real pig. Go for it - its worth the extra.

The spark will still only find one way to Earth - the easiest - so I'm afraid that the Splitfire will still give you only the one spark. Same as any other plug, but more expensive.

I have heard stories of Champion plugs failing, but never experioenced that myself, despite having used both them and NGK for many years.

Beware Snake Oil ! There is a lot of it about.
