Xt Oil Cooler Mods?

Hey Guys,
I have an XT600e, 2003 model and as I'm going on a RTW I was thinking of purchasing an oil cooler from KEDO. I'm going off advice from others and their trips to prevent overheating etc. The job to fit looks simple enough however, the bike has an Acerbis tank fitted and the diagram from KEDO states that fitting their oil cooler with an aftermarket oversize tank, (I'm presuming like an Acerbis,) will require modifications. I'm thinking that maybe the mounting site may have to be in another area of the bike, it's supposed to be next to the cylinder, left side and maybe longer hoses required?
I've emailed KEDO but haven't received an answer over the last few days. My German is okay for ordering and finding a cashpoint but after that..............hmmm.... So I was wondering if anyone here can help?

a) Has anyone fitted an oil cooler WITH an Acerbis 23ltr tank? If so, how did you fit it?

b) Or does anyone know of another supplier for an oil cooler which doesn't require modifications and is a simple 'bolt on'?

I'm a bit stuck as I don't want to order a 160+Euro bit of kit and find it not possible to fit the thing in the first place without major mods as I'm not able to fabricate anything. If anyone has some pics of the fit etc that would be great!

Thanks in advance

Geoff

an old DL post

I've just found an old David Lambeth post saying an oil cooler isn't necessary with modern oils. As he's a bit of a Guru with all things XT, I might not bother attempting to fit one but the post was a few years old,

Does anyone know anything different or agree with DL?

oil coolers

I HAVE A 1986 XT600 1VJ with a short (12 inch) oil cooler. tried to fit a larger cooler from a later 89 xt600 (about 18 inches long) but it wont fit because the tank is in the way. don't know if this helps. Have a nice day.
