Winter Protection

Hi,
I just want to share my own experience tired of fighting the wind and rainy condition here in Ireland in winter, so i fitted a screen, heated grip, handle bar muff .as seen on the pictures.
It really makes a huge difference both in safety and comfort riding
No more blast , no pressure on the chest or the helmet, less noise, warm hand and so much more relax, i can now cruise hours at 120 kph

Hi,

The screen is from Givi the 601 , and the muff are from Tucano model urbano...It looks a bit funny but hey, for an old , robust xt that can fix myself cost nothing in maintenance, light, i would not exchange it for any more modern GS,KTM or else, i have 65k on it, changed the starter relay twice [don't like humidity] piston ring, cam chain, carb intake due to vibration.
And i'm vrey happy with the Avon Distanzia, very durable , 27k so far ,grip ok when dry but not good at all on wet or muddy conditions. Also i noticed that once the exhaust is perforated if very rusty the bike won't run , maybe due to the lack of compression, it happened once while inthe south of France at night in the middle of nowhere, so i carry some kind of stuff to fix metal, good to know...

Cheers...

Hi Gwel,
Nice modifications, I'm thinking of getting a screen for my bike, either a Givi or Spitfire, can you tell me does any of the buffeting that you no longer have appear thru the bars as shaking or vibrations(as the screens are bar mounted ), also how tall are you ( I'm 6,1 and worry that the wind is just going to be funneled up straight onto my lid! ).
Cheers Mike

Hi Mike,

I m just 1.81m which should be around 6 foot, the air flow just passes above the lid in that configuration, I just have a very slight turbulence , I suppose It could be a problem if I was any taller but with an extra 2 cm , which can be easy gained by adding those spoiler from touratech I suppose you'd be fine!
As for the Vibration it's not a problem.
Hope this help

Cheers
