Side panels.
Are the plastic side panels of the Tenere the same as the XT 600? I'm looking for 85 tenere side panels and can only find those of the XT.

No, the Tenere version Side panels differ from the XT's. I made this mistake myself, bought a pair of side covers off an 84XT600 for my 34L Tenere (83) and they didn't fit.
So no you'll have to find the OEM replacement
