Removing LHS Crank Bearing on Tenere?

Im sorting out the old 5th gear trouble on my 85 34L Tenere again and Ive run into a problem: I thought, seeing as though Im down there, Id replace all the bearings too, which I have done before, but now that im wanting to replace the LHS Big End I see that I cant pull off the bearing because I first need to remove the lower Cam Chain Sprocket.... which I cant remove... we broke a puller before realising that the sprocket doesnt come off. Balls!
My question: if I separate the crank will I be able to pull out the shaft to which the sprocket is a part and so remove the bearing? Am I making sense? Also is there any danger is pulling the pin for this reason in terms of it being happily seated now and then being rudely pulled and seated again?

Unless you have access to decent engineering facilities, splitting the crank is a no-no, as it must be assembled to tight tolerances (trued) and checked.

By the sound of it you are not experienced in this procedure?

Quite right! I wouldnt try to do it myself, but Id like to know if it can be done as Yamaha tells me the bearing is only sold with part of the crank. Ill put an engineer on to it if its possible/ advisable.

The sprocket is NOT part of the crankshaft, it comes off. I removed mine by using a press & a bit of heat.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
