Kick starter mechanism damage

What can be a reason for the kickstarter ratchet plate damage?
On a kickstarter mechanism there is a ratchet, which is meshed when kicking and is disengaged after kickstarter lever return to top position. Ratchet is disengaged by a ratchet plate. This small plate is bolted to the crankcase. On my bike this plate was just bent and broken off the crankcase. Ratchet must hit that plate with huge force, which is strange. I checked my friend’s bike engine – but there was only minor wear on a plate and crankcase. On my it was smashed.
Has anyone seen anything similar?

How old is the engine?
Is it just wear and tear?

Bike is 2008. It’s not worn.
I heard a theory about engine kicking-back. I agree it is possible. But if the engine kick back can damage the engine – then it is a bad design.

Plate and bolt is bent so badly, that it does not disengage the mechanism. It rattles all the time. The real problem is that the bolt hole is damaged. I weld repaired it – but the plate and bolt bent again. In fact case around bolt is cracked and that is why all is bent.
