Exclamation Further Rear Suspension Questions

Hi guys,

Further to tmottons orginal questions.....

Technoflex are out of my budget, see their offer below:

What are my other options ?
- Standard Yamaha Shock, new is it suffice?
- Can I uprate the spring to a longer one or stiffer ? if so where can I buy these....
- Use ali or plastic spacers to enlarge my existing spring on a new Yam shock....
- Go on a diet and travel with a credit card....

Cheers
Matt

Thank you for your interest in Technoflex. Technoflex builds schocks since 1989 and besides of that we have more than 40 years of
experience in the field of shock absorbers. The shocks of Technoflex are ALL CUSTOM MADE. This means that we build shocks that are adjusted
to your weight and drivingstyle.

For your bike the XT 600Z 1989 we have 3 different models but for your
Rear:

1- Standard emulsion: The shocks is adjustable on the rebound adjuster ring with 50 clicks to achieve the precise adjustment over an extremely wide range. € 462,00 incl. 19% VAT
2- Advanced remote reservoir (low speed): This shock comes with the abillity to regulate the compression in low speed. compression damping has 35 clicks of adjustment on low speed.
This allows more comfort because the bike can be adjusted for different roads. € 678,00 incl. 19% VAT
3-Advanced remote reservoir (high/low speed): This shock comes with the abillity to regulate the compression in both high and low speed. compression damping has 35 clicks of adjustment on both high
and low speed. This allows more comfort because the bike can be adjusted for different roads. € 737,00 incl. 19% VAT.

I hope you have enough information, but if you need any additional information please don't hesistate to contact me.

I am looking forward hearing from you soon.

Kind regards,

Hans-Dieter Fischer

Exclamation Standard does if for me

Hi,

I think the original suspension is good enough. If you make your bike to hard, you get more bumbs in your body and arms. If it is bottoming out you know at least you use the hole travel from your suspension. That should not happen every km, but if it happens every 10 km I would say that is okay.

I would only change the stock shock against a new one if it is broken. But if you find the right expert, he will eaven fix the standard shock of your bike. I did get last year a rear shock rebuild for R 1200 that is around 140 Euro, still cheaper than a technoflex.

I don´t race my XT for that I have a YZ450F :-)

regards

Thomas

Unhappy Ouch....

My local dealer offered a YAM replacement for €460 or a non standard for €600... unable to rebuilt it as its a sealed unit..

I'll try with ali spacers to avoid it bottoming out ... anyway its only for travelling not for heavy off roading ....

Salut Matt

MUCH better to just get a stronger spring - just increasing the preload is a poor way to do it. With a significantly heavier load all the time, you need a stronger spring so the shock can work in it's proper range with full travel, and not bottom out too easily.

Hagon in the UK does custom springs, should be pretty cheap compared to a shock - or worse, a broken one.

Hagon

I just called and for £295 (€430) they will build a shock to your spec, eg total riders weight plus luggage.

£255 for a standard replacement unit.

They will NOT sell springs alone...........

Can anyone tell me the specification of the standard spring. I have the measurements, need the compression weight.

Salut Matt
