blown crank
help wanted. in a dilema. my crank is blown. new one costs 850$/my mech thinks its not worth it spending money on a 88 model 3aj bike. any gr8 ideas . i live in the bluemountains near sydney.i recon if i spend bout 1.5k$ on it doin up the engine its still worth it. i love my tenere. its my second bike have a vfr800 as well. got this tenere to tour australian outbacks with. any helpfull suggestions appreciated

How blown is your crankshaft? Conrod, bigend and bearings can all be replaced.
Bearings are standard so dont need to come from Yamaha, as I recall from my last revision the conrod with bigend and bigend bearing together cost abt 200 Euros, the main bearings about 20 Euros each. Throw in some cash for fitting the items and balancing and there you are. Auke |
