luggage racks

Just a quick question which has probably been asked and answered several times but as i cant use the search function so, can luggage racks from earlier/later models fit a 1991 xt 600e 3tb? Mainly the side mounts as i have some big throw over soft luggage but the exhaust obviously is there.

I just made some for my tenere,couldn't find what wanted so spent a Saturday and bit of a Sunday with some tube,pipe bender and welder and they turned out quite well.ive no idea what to do to attach a piccy on here,but get yourself over to mezos site and there's a piccy on there.

I probably will end up making some, cant afford or justify the new prices and they rarely appear for sale secondhand. Will look on the other site n see if i can find yours.

Here goes...

You can get the gist of how they go from that,used a plumbers pipe bending spring to bend the tubes,worked a treat,rest of it was pretty simple..

I bought an 'official' Yamaha accessory rear rack for my 1994 3TB. Yamaha advertise them as being suitable for all years. Not true. I was only able to fit it by cutting some of the tailpiece plastic and packing out the right-side mount with about 25mm worth of washers. I have checked on a 4PT model, and it would fit perfectly. Not sure how this would apply to pannier frames etc, but the mounting points have certainly changed over the years.

Yep, we have a Motech rack. Fits nice and seems strong , have a large dispatcher's top box bolted onto it . Bought it from a place in Farnborough a couple of years ago after mucho hunting.
