Yamaha 1997 XTZ 660 Tenere..Good Bad or Ugly???

Had the offer of a 97 XTZ 660 Tenere with 40,000 kms on it.

Now i know the 80's model was well loved, but what about the 660.

Im 6ft4" and 96kgs and will be outbacking in Australia....is this a good choice of bike??

Whats the tank capacity...are there any design faults to look out for?

Its $5100 ausssy dollars is this about the right price as bikes are quite expensive in Aus.

Thanks
Tim

3yf

Paid mine £1,000, it's a XTZ660 3YF 1995 with 20,000 miles, in London.
It's a nice bike, a bit heavy if you are used to XTs but very reliable.

1996 Xtz 660

I had one for many years - a 1996 - with the twin headlights - fabulous bike - I'm only 5'10" and although touching the ground was a small issues what i bounced up from heavy braking once i got used to that it was FAB!!! wouldn't have sold it if i hadn't left the country.... engines are great - mine had 29,000 - regular oil and filter changes...

easy to mod - stuck a stainless exhaust system on it, handle bar protectors... use the touratech rear hoops to mount the zega cases and had metal straps made up to take hoops to the frame.... huge tank - and most importantly - reliable!!!!!

as i say - loved it...

Tony.
