F650 tank size and Dakar or GS
Next year, I'll be doing London to Oz either via Russia or N Africa.
I'm about to buy a two year old Dakar, but have 2 concerns: 1) Am I better off getting a regular F650 GS and upgrading the suspension and wheels. Size wise, the Dakar is better for me. 2) Is it likely that I'd need to increase the tank size, or would I be OK with a full tank and 2 x 5l jerry cans? Thanks, Charles |

Hi Charles,
don't waste your time in modding a standard GS, just go for a Dakar as it'll be much cheapeer to do it that way. As for the fuel range I used to average around 190 miles per tank but did manage 260 miles at a gentle pace in Norway and had about 0.3 liters left in the tank! A bit close for my taste but came about due to 3 fuel stations being closed. Regards Reggie |
