Contemplating BMW, Honda, or kawasaki

I have been contemplating a bigger bike for a while and have been keeping my eyes open for a transalp, KLR650, or a couple different BMW models. The KLR 650 and Transalp would do everything I want to do, but are out of my price capability new. the KLR is reachable used, but I dont think I can get a transalp for $2500 USD. I have also been looking at BMW R65ls, and R65's, R75's, and looking for an R80GS. THe GS is not likely to be in my price range either. any comments or suggestions. Other info is that I am about 180 lbs (81kg), and 6'2" tall. the R65LS is a little short, but I have been riding a honda CT90, so it feels pretty good.

For this year I intend to ride mostly paved and some unpaved roads. At some point I hope to ride the transamtrail hence the transalp or klr.
