Bike recommendation

Have an XT600 and find it suits my off road riding interests well - fire roads, mild trails, fair number of pavement miles between the trails.
Would like to improve it with something quieter, a bit smoother and more modern suspension - any recommendations? The Suzi DR650S seems to get good press - anybody with a first hand comparison?

i have an xtz600 and a dr650se and to be honest there's not alot in it.my xt is 15 years old the dr 4,so hense the dr feels more solid.the biggest difference iwould say is the suspension and noise, the dr is the quietest bike ever built, doesen't upset the horses.as for the susp it lets incompetent twats like me get away with murder,i have mine set up very soft with medium damping.the xt has smoother carburation the dr is better off road and slightly lighter.if you're considering alot of off road work esp in winter the dr,touring go for xt.the choice is yours
