Any comments on Ural motorcycles?

Hey folks. Anybody have any experience with these bikes? I am specifically wondering about the reliability and how they stand up over time.

Thanks

Hello,

my country as an ex-USSR member country is full of them (the old ones), most of them doesn't work. Urals are basically the same as Harley Davitsons - the broke down very often.

Only take them for high milage trip when you know the technical details of this bike in deep-down, then you know how many parts and what to take with you always.

If you like to own an exotic motorcycle for sunday rides - Ural fits very well, it's much more unique than typical old HD for example. But when taling about long distance touring, then get technically knowledged because you'll be quite busy. Tere are lot of technical fanatics who love Urals in my country...

New generation Urals should be much more reliable than old ones, but still, they clearly aren't near to Japanese/Austrian/German bikes on the same way as most of american HDs. Those belong more chrome-showers-chopper-technical-fanatics side than a reliable touring... (Altough you can tour virtually with any bike if you know it well...)
