Hello from London

Hi,

I joined some months ago it seems and didn't even bother posting a 'Hi'! How rude!

My name's Lab, 30. I'm from Leicester originally. I'm currently working and living in London. Hoping to relocate to Austin, Texas, in the US, one day.

My other hobbies include competition shooting (with a similar great community like here, I'm guessing) but am kind of on pause/'nomad' at the moment to save for relo'. Music gigs, films, catching-up with close friends, family, travel, reading, working out and running.

In the interim, during the Bank Holidays, I want to make-up for lost time and travel as much as possible on a budget. I've been doing some travelling over the past year. I was redundant about 2 years back. Since then, I'm determined not to let anything else put me off. Have always found a reason but I've managed to be more stable, work and save since coming back. I've been volunteering for as much overtime work that is possible. Last year, I managed to get away every Bank Holiday apart from Easter.

One of my biggest adventures in recent history was last August. I took a big trip making use of trains and busses covering Eastern/Central Europe from Gdansk, Poland down to Slovakia, Hungary & Romania. 12 towns or so were covered. It was about 2500Km in 16 days. I planned the trip with the Thomas Cook Summer timetable & their map. I love this self-preparation as I want to continue to be self-reliant.

Shortly after coming back, read 'Lois on the Loose', could relate to her wanting out of London, checked out her websites, loving the idea of panniers, got hooked on Sons of Anarchy, Long Way Down, reading Jupiter's Travels now, got a copy of the Touratech catalogue already, and realise relocation to the States is a long-term thing. So in the meantime, I'd love to get my license, maybe a spontaneous weekend trip to France now and again would be great! Anything to kill the time in London.

Passed my Motorbike Theory in January!! Hoping to do the Direct Access Scheme in Easter.

I hope to find the brotherhood, community & camaraderie, the enjoyment, the adventures and make friends for life in what I believe, from what I've seen so far, is this great world of Adventure Motorbiking!

Hi Lab, You had a great experience during your travels I guess. I suppose, after your readings, you would be aiming at doing something similar or greater on a motorbike in the near future.
I live in London too, I´m originally from South America and I like going for rides anywhere, France, Belgium, Spain or just a local ride suits me. If you go for your test and plan for a ride, give me a shout I might be able to go with you.
Marco.
