couple of suggestions

Hi ;

As per topic ;

* In some countries (like stans, Iran,Mongolia etc.) where internet connection is quite slow, reaching HU page becomes a pain. So the suggestion is ... is it possible to create another HU page which is much simpler and therefore faster to reach ? It can have a totaly different web adress with "almost" all the contents of the original HU still in contact?

Like www.HU-int.com which has all the contents of www.horizonsunlimited.com except for topics, for example.... eZine,events,advertorials,store ... etc.

* Friendly acc., repair shops and comm.... can it be reached from a world map?

You know, a world map and there you click the country and acc.+shops+comm. appears ...

Cheers,

you can speed up the loading of a website on a slow connection by using the advanced settings in internet explorer to stop pictures, sounds anmations etc from downloading. It does make quite a difference.

That's really hard, as in $$$$$$, and probably beyond current technology for us. The new system in progress will allow us to have different style sheets for instance for mobile phones and printing, but anything more is tough. We always work very hard to make downloads as fast as possible by using as few graphics as possible and still look good.

Not sure what you don't want: you said "except for topics, for example.... eZine,events,advertorials,store ... etc."

You do NOT want access to the ezine? Events? Sorry don't understand that part. They don't slow you down unless you go there!

We don't do advertorials period, but we do have banner ads - and there is NO way we can turn them off - without them we'd have to shut down the site, so be happy they're there!

You can turn off graphics in your browser to speed it up a little.

Note that we use long pages instead of lots of short pages - because it takes longer to switch pages than if you start to read from the top of the page while it's continuing to load below.

Hope that helps understand the constraints. Nice idea though!

Cheers,
Working on exactly that! But it will be some time late this year - it's a big mashup to create, but we have it planned and there is progress. Communities, MC Friendly Recommended Accommodation, Repair shops, good roads, Shipping the bike routes, Border Crossings and more planned.

Anyone wants to assist on this would be welcome.

If you don´t already you may want to go to www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb and turn off graphics. I don´t think you can ask for much more than that unless you want an all text version.

Grant- is the mapping stuff the things I did or is someone else doing this.
