Office location / Agent change for Perkins in Dili, Timor-Leste

I am based in Dili and have met many bikers who ship their bikes from Dili to Darwin. So I thought I would pass on the updated information I have received.

Effective 29th May 2011 Perkins Shipping is opening their own office in Dili, Timor-Leste. This office will handle all agency, operations and stevedoring functions in Dili. SDV Logistics will no longer be operating as their agent.

It states that the first vessel handled by Perkins Shipping Dili will be the: MV Thor Pioneer VOY 21 ETA Dili 3rd June 2011.

The new address is as follows:

Perkins Shipping
(A Toll Business Unit Group)
Perkins Bond Yard
Av Martires de Patria
Fatuhada, Dili
Timor-Leste

Manager:
James Gedded
Tel. +670 7427851
Fax. +670 3324133
Email: james.geddes@tollgroup.com

Looking on a map it seems to be on the opposite side of the road to the Landmark supermarket complex.

The 'Av Martires de Patria' road, is a section of the Comoro road which is the main road which comes from the west of Dili past the airport.

Thumbs up

Excellent. Thanks for the info. Could you possibly locate the office on Google maps and/or pass the GPS coordinates?

2nd that!

I'll be looking-out for this office in exactly three months' time.

Using Google Earth I have located what looks like the only property across the road from Landmark Plaza big enough to store containers. You can see containers in the yard.

Based on this the location is: -8.553874 125.551967

The only strange thing is that on the Perkins web site SDV are still listed as their agents. Nevertheless, I have entered it into the OSM map.

(Note that in the OSM map somebody wrongly moved Landmark Plaza across the road. Landmark Plaza is on the S side. The next OSM-Garmin map will show it in the correct location again.)

Also note: the Garmin OSM map published by Lambertus doesn't show offices, so you need to create your own waypoints and load them into your GPS.

I just noticed that I mis-spelled the guys name in the contact. The email address for him I gave is correct. His name is James Geddes.

Here is a link to the page in the newspaper I got the info from.

http://www.guideposttimor.com/pages/page_42.pdf

or to download the entire current issue use:
http://www.guideposttimor.com/pages/current.pdf

FYI: Guide Post magazine is a monthly English language paper released in Dili. In each issue Perkins has an advert listing their upcoming sailing schedule. I guess they are accurate at time of going to press but from experience delays often happen. At the link above you can always download the current edition.

On page 4 is a city map which shows the office as being almost directly opposite Landmark. I think the resolution is not that good on the PDF version to zoom in and see it.

Those co-ordinates seem pretty good. I will try to drive over and double check on that.

There is an edit button in your posts.

You are very thorough, posting your sources here. Very good.

The sailing schedules are on Perkins' web site and they seem up-to-date. I have no idea if they indicate delays there, though.

The Perkins details are correct. Their plaza is very big, easy to find.
Unfortunatelly delays are very common, usually 2 days.

For my experience with them look at:
