harbour costs cochin (india)

hello there,
we shipped our car from hamburg to cochin and paid for the shipping in germany. now we are faced with a tremendous bill from the cochin logistic company. does anyone have an idea or has anyone experiences with indian harbour rates, can anybody say if our given rates are sort of correct or reasonable, because we have the impression that it is way too much:

DOCUMENTATION & PROCESSING : RS. 5000/-
DELIVERY AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES : RS.11,000/-
DELIVERY ORDER FEE (AS PER BILL) : RS.17097/-
DESTUFFING CHARGES(AS PER BILL) : RS.26,500/-
SERVICE CHARGES : RS.20,000/-
EMPTY CONTAINER MOVMENT : RS.5,000/-
SERVICE TAX : 10.2%

KINDLY ARRANGE TO TRANSFER RS.85,000/- TO PROCEED CLEARANCE.

thank you. tommes

It sounds outrageous to me, but I could be wrong. We have often found that there are a lot of "surprise fees" when sea shipping, so that it costs more than expected doesn't surprise me. That it's that high in India is a surprise.

Best of luck with it!

sorry no experience from harbours in India – been warned about them, though! And the amounts do sound very high.

Maybe contact some other shipping agent in the area, and ask if these are in the ballpark or not?

harbour costs

It's amazing how sort sighted they are being,it's not just harbour costs but everything else as well. They think every body who comes are all walking ATM'S ready to be rinsed out.
If only they started thinking long term, being reasonable,a little restrained, they can have so much tourism and business
just my 2 cents worth
